Club Meeting:

- February
Club Meeting: Feb 18th

Our February meeting will be the beginning of our ‘Back to Basics” meetings. This should be of interest to both old and new hams. So to kick this off we will have a hands on presentation about how to use your multi-meter. We will be using them to measure voltage, current and resistance. Not to mention to see how ohm’s law enters into the picture. So blow the dust off your multi-meters, grab a friend and head on out and meet others of the ham radio community.

Consider bringing: Multi-meter (Red Harbor Freight meter is fine) & Extra 9 volt battery. We will supply anything else needed for this hands on presentation.

Ham Radio License Testing: Feb 20th,  9:00 AM
There will be Ham Radio Testing at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 20th
We will be testing for all levels of license and walk-in's are always welcome

- March
Club Meeting: March 17th

Our March meeting will be an introduction on basic hand held radio programming.  With the advent of inexpensive radios and them being readily available. We will emphasize our programing on the Baofeng 5R. But no matter what radio you have, this will be of interest and very similar..  So come on out and bring your radios and manuals. Learn how to hold your tongue at just  the right angle as we all scratch our heads and learn how to navigate the sometimes confusing menus.

- April
Club Meeting: April 21st
Our April meeting will continue down the “back to basics” path. This time we will have a demonstration on matching an antenna to a radio. We will lightly run the figures on how we expect the antenna to behave and then use those calculation in a real world situation. We will show the usage of the SWR meter and how to tune the antenna for it’s best match.

We will also talk about the future meeting direction. I have a path that includes a better understanding of simple equipment like how the SWR meter actually works, basic soldering techniques, component identification and then maybe building a project or two. But we will all join in with our ideas to mold the meeting direction. So be thinking about where you have interests. .

- May
Club Meeting: May 19th

Our next meeting will be on Diodes. All kinds of diodes, normal small signal, Zener, Schottky, LED, Pin, bridges, SCR’s, and on and on. I’ll bring some samples and some test gear and we will talk about just how some of these devices work and of what use they can have. So bring your meters again and let’s have some hands on with diodes.

Ham Radio License Testing: May21st  9:00 AM
There will be Ham Radio Testing at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 19th
We will be testing for all levels of license and walk-in's are always welcome

- June
Club Meeting: June 16th
Our next meeting will be on Capacitors.  We will have many examples on different kinds of capacitors and how they function.  This presentation will include the hands on building of our own capacitors with common household items. This should be a very interesting and fun time for everyone. Why not join us on our next adventure into basic electronics.

Ham Radio License Testing: June 25th  9:00 AM
There will be Ham Radio Testing at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 25th. This is the last testing session before the new Extra class license pool takes affect.
We will be testing for all levels of license and walk-in's are always welcome

- July
Club Meeting: July 21st
Our next meeting will be the continuation of out basic electronics path. This meeting will be all about resistors.  We will talk about their varying uses and demonstrate their different configurations. Then we will all build our own resistors and test them to drive the points home.  So again this is a combination demonstration and hands on meeting. This promises to be both fun and educational.  I hope you plan on attending.  Consider bringing alone anyone with interests in Electronics or Ham Radio.

- August
Club Meeting: Aug 18th

Our next club meeting presentation will be yet another hands on type meeting. This month we will be doing some practice soldering so we are more familiar with the required skills when we build a bit more complicated projects in the next few month. We will be soldering on a basic commercial printed circuit board with plenty of room for mistakes. We will be installing a few components to build a basic colored LED blinker. This will allow for everyone to not only hone their soldering skills, but to also build something of interest.
The suggested tools we will need are:
• Small wire cutters
• Small Soldering iron
• Solder
• 9 volt battery.
• About a 2 foot square piece of cardboard to protect our work surface.

We will provide the circuit board and other needed components. If you don’t have all or even any of the above tools, don’t let that stop you as we will have a few spares to share.

Remember you don’t have to have your Ham Radio license or be a member of our club to attend any meeting. Everyone with an interest in Electronics and/or Ham Radio are welcome.

Ham Radio License Testing: Aug 27th  9:00 AM
There will be Ham Radio Testing at 9:00 AM on Saturday, Aug 27th at 9:00AM  We will be testing for all levels of license and walk-in's are always welcome

- September
Club Meeting: Sep 15th

Our September club meeting will be yet another basic hands on meeting. This month we will build a commercial electronic kit.  This will be a small circuit board tone generator that is yours to build and keep.  We will provide everything you need in the kit but you will need to provide the same tools as last meeting:

       Small wire cutters

       Small Soldering iron

       Solder

       9 volt battery

       Multimeter

About a 2 foot square piece of cardboard to protect our work surface

If you don’t have any or all of the above tools, don’t let that stop you as we will have extras to loan. So come on out and share in the excitement as we all build something together.
