June was a busy month for our
club. We hosted a Swap Fest, elected new officers and setup a
Field Day station. I am honored to be nominated and elected to
serve as President of the FHUARC for the coming year. It was
good to see some of you at this year’s Field Day. Although
attendance and participation were down mainly due to illness and
conflicting events, we still had the opportunity to setup and
operate the ARES Bus. The bus and related equipment operated
beautifully. I hope we can breathe new life into our Field Day
activities next year. Field Day provides a unique opportunity
for all of our club members, no matter the license class or
experience level, to operate different types of transceivers,
learn the characteristics of antennas and antenna tuners,
grounding systems and emergency/remote operation practices.
This type of organized event only happens once a year and we all
need to make the most of it.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest
of their busy summer. Our next club meeting will be July 17th.
