Hello Hams:

For those of you who could not attend last night's FHUARC meeting, you
missed a good one! Attendance was high and we had three visitors as
well.

The club discussed a couple of new initiatives we are going to undertake
in the next couple of months. We made further plans for our BBQ
Festival station. We also voted unanimously to participate in this
year's ARRL SET (Simulated Emergency Test) by coordinating with the
statewide exercise in early October. More detailed information will be
coming to you in the next few days on these, and other, planned events.

A new "Contact Contest" was introduced for all club members to
participate in. There will be several levels and categories of the
contest so all classes of amateurs can take part. Prizes will be
awarded in each of the categories. Tom Childers (WA5ZVZ) will be
working out the details and will update us on the net Tuesday night.
Speaking of the net...

There was a general consensus among the members present that we all want
more from our Tuesday night Chester County ARES Net. We will open the
"formal" session of the net for check-ins. Then, we will move into an
'informal" session for discussion and general QSOs about current and
upcoming events. A net reminder will be sent out Monday or Tuesday of
next week.

I must say I am pleased with the renewed excitement and energy I am
sensing from our club members. I believe we all want to do something.
We just need organization and commitment. I will be calling on several
of you to help organize and direct some of our newest projects over the
next few weeks so we don't get off track and we approach everything we
undertake in an organized and prepared way.

It was good to see many of you again last night and I look forward to
our next meeting on September 18th. Mark your calendar as this will be
a final meeting before two of our big events!
