Hello Hams:
My thanks to Richard England, John Adams and Mike Burkhead for
representing the club well during the BBQ Festival. They set-up a
station in the Gazebo downtown on Friday morning and made several
contacts...even some DX!
We are one week away from our October club meeting. I will be unable to
attend due to teaching a class in Parsons that night. Dan will be
traveling out of town...so, I'm not sure what else to do. There is no
program scheduled for this month, nor are there any activities in our
immediate future. Unless someone has a program they would like to
present, I would suggest that the club have an eating meeting at a
restaurant, or, simply cancel the meeting this month. Please let me
know something VERY soon on your thoughts.
November's meeting is already planned and scheduled! We will be hosting
the Storm Spotter Training Class for the National Weather Service.
(This is why Oct is open...NWS had to re-schedule our Oct class to Nov)
The meeting date will change slightly. We will be meeting on Tuesday
night rather than Thursday night next month. November 18th will be our
meeting date and class. It will be held in Ayers Auditorium in the
Brown-Kopel Business Center next door to the Gardner Center. The campus
and community will be invited. More on this later...
We must say good-bye to our friend, fellow-ham operator and club
Vice-president, Dan Crump, W1LSU. Dan has accepted a job with a former
employer as a pharmacy supervisor for a group of stores. He will be
moving to Dallas/Fort Worth. He leaves next week for his new job. His
family will remain here for a little while before moving with him. We
wish Dan all the best in his new work and the challenges that are ahead
for he, Brenda and his girls.
Have a great weekend and let me know your thoughts on the October
meeting.
73,
Ron
